4 Days at SHA Wellness: My Rejuvenating Reset in Mexico
When I arrived at SHA Wellness Clinic in Isla Mujeres, I was ready for a four-day wellness reboot, plus, I was hoping for a pre-wedding glow-up! With it being set right on the beach, SHA immediately gave off a vibe that screams luxury summer camp for adults except, instead of archery or campfire songs, you’re doing personal training, diagnostics, and therapies that leave you feeling amazing.
My stay was a healthy mix of detox, relaxation, and some learning along the way. Whether you’re looking to kickstart a health transformation in 2025 or just need to recharge, take a look at my schedule below. Hopefully, you can grab a few ideas to make the most of your SHA experience!
Day 1 | Easing into SHA’s Wellness World
7:00 AM: Breakfast
From the first breakfast, it was clear this would be a shift from my usual routine. I started each morning with warm miso soup, something I’d never tried for breakfast but found surprisingly soothing. It’s a different kind of fuel to start the day, but I leaned into it!
9:00 AM: Personal Training Assessment
Kicking off with a fitness assessment that helps tailor the program’s physical aspects. It’s a straightforward session that gets you clear on your fitness goals.
10:30 am - 11:30 am: Advanced Prevention Diagnosis, Health Assessment, and Nutritional Consultation
The first day was packed with assessments: personal training, advanced diagnostics, and a nutrition consultation. This was super-educational for me and helped the SHA team design tailored meals based on my goals. It was weird and fun - I felt both totally at ease and slightly out of my comfort zone; after all, this is the place for serious wellness, and you can feel it. The agenda planning session was helpful, as it gave me an overview of what to expect (and where to squeeze in a beach break!).
1:00 pm - Lunch
SHA’s cuisine isn’t just health-focused; the flavors are fresh, and you won’t feel like you’re sacrificing anything. If you’re trying to lose weight, be prepared for smaller portion sizes which can take some getting used to.
3:30 pm - Indiba Facial
My first treatment was the Indiba facial, a high-tech experience that left my skin feeling refreshed. It’s designed to boost collagen production and give your skin more tone. As opposed to lasers, it uses radio-frequency electrical pulses so it’s totally painless.
7:00 pm - Dinner
The menu was balanced, flavorful, and somehow felt indulgent despite being meticulously tailored to my health plan. Unfortunately, I couldn’t have dessert, but Brandon’s gluten-free, dairy-free options looked delicious!
Day 2 | Deep Detox and Cell Therapies
7:00 am - Breakfast
SHA’s breakfast is light but offers an energy boost that’ll fuel you through the day’s treatments and workouts.
9:00 am - Lower-Body Personal Training Session
After a quick breakfast, my trainer took me through a lower body workout. The personalized training sessions are a huge perk. They push you in all the right ways without feeling overly intense. They also get to know you over the course of your stay and learn how to get the most out of each session.
10:30 am - Cell Regeneration Therapy
I then headed to my cell regeneration therapy, which felt like a science-fiction treatment designed to recharge you at the cellular level. Super-cool and, while you don’t feel a difference immediately, I slept like a baby this night.
12:00 pm - Bioenergy Assessment w/ Acupuncture
SHA’s biofeedback approach feels high-tech but is easy to understand, giving you clear insight into what your body is asking for, where your limitations are and guides how they approach the acupuncture. The acupuncture session was incredibly relaxing; you’re forced to just be still and let the needles do their thing. This was my first time doing it and I would highly recommend.
1:00 pm - Lunch
After a series of treatments, including acupuncture and a bio-energy assessment, I was ready for lunch, which came with a rare treat: dessert! This felt like a little victory in the middle of my detox.
2:30 pm - Cryotherapy
It was time to face the cryotherapy chamber. Three minutes at -130°C was intense but strangely invigorating. This is one I want to do at home more often. It definitely helped my muscles rejuvenate and left me in a good mood.
4:15 pm - Thai Massage
This was a relaxing massage that’s both calming and grounding. I recommend a 90 minute here as 60 felt a little short for me to really get into it.
5:30 pm - Hydroenergetic Detox
Following that, I breezed through the sauna, steam room, and ice plunge as part of SHA’s hydrotherapy circuit. Their facility for this circuit is basically a luxury spa with 3 separate saunas, 2 hot tubs and multiple pools. It’s really well done and rivals any luxury resort I’ve been to.
7:00 pm - Dinner
Another well-balanced meal to end the day before heading off to bed to get a good night’s sleep.
Day 3: Wellness Cooking and Body Treatments
7:00 am - Breakfast and Morning Tea
By day three, I’d settled into the rhythm of SHA, starting with another breakfast with miso and tea after every meal. I could tell I’m feeling more energized.
9:00 am - Full-Body Personal Training
A full-body workout to get the blood pumping! These workouts were previously with a personal trainer but today I was on my own and did a weights circuit to build some muscle.
11:00 am - Corporal ICOONE® Treatment
This was a mix of therapeutic massage and high-tech cellulite reduction. They massage you with targeted laser-technology designed for both toning of the skin and general relaxation.
1:00 pm - Lunch
2:00 pm - Pool Break
After lunch, I had a bit of free time and snagged a spot by the pool. They passed around some refreshing non-alcoholic drinks and we just relaxed for 90 mins.
3:30 pm - Cooking Demo
We learned to make SHA’s famous miso soup and gluten-free muffins, which made me feel a little more empowered to take some wellness home with me. I’ll admit, I was skeptical about miso in the morning, but I got used to it!
7:00 pm - Dinner
By this point, the meals feel just right. They feel balanced, tailored to your goals and leave you feeling energized, not full or tired.
Day 4: Wrap-Up and Final Treatments
7:00 am - Breakfast and Quiet Morning Reflection
My last day began with a relaxed breakfast before a session of IV ozone therapy.
10:00 am - Intravenous Ozone Therapy
This IV treatment is designed to boost energy and detox, and by this point, I was all in. While it sounds intense, it left me feeling clear-headed and refreshed, a perfect ending to my stay. Honestly, the positive effects of this were noticeable and lasted for a few days after I left.
1:00 pm - Farewell Lunch
After a final lunch, I felt a bit reluctant to leave and was already plotting how to bring some of SHA’s habits home with me. It’s rare to find a place that manages to balance detox and indulgence so well, but SHA Mexico does it seamlessly. I came in for a reset and left with a whole new perspective on wellness and a few serious plans to come back!
