An Insider’s Guide to Greece

Best Hotels Santorini Greece

Hi Jetsetters! It’s May 2024 and I just returned from an incredible 9-day trip through Greece and, while I had been there before, my goal for this trip was to do “deep dive” into our partner hotels and experience the country in the most authentic way possible. My team and I explored 4 incredible islands with one of our Greece Partners (DPH World), who pulled back the curtain, exposed us to the country’s hidden gems and allowed us to see Greece through Greek eyes. We toured 24 hotels, visited at 41 different restaurants/bars and met too many amazing people to count.

I’ve always enjoyed booking Greece because of its diversity and how it seems to appeal to every type of traveler, but I returned from this trip viewing it more as a treasure trove of opulent experiences, sun-kissed beaches and picturesque landscapes with meaningful ancient history sprinkled in. In the sections below, I’m spilling all of the insider tips on what makes this destination so special.

Spoiler Alert: Greece’s diversity and variety will appeal to almost every traveler!

Curious about where to stay, what to eat, and what to do? Read on for my curated list of recommendations to help you plan your next trip and make sure to contact us to book the hotels, transfers, activities & tours + dining reservations.

Santorini | The Romantic Haven

Best for honeymooners and couples seeking romance

Perched on the southern edge of the Aegean Sea, this volcanic island is renowned for its dramatic cliffs, breathtaking sunsets and iconic whitewashed buildings cascading down the caldera (cliff). Best known for its unparalleled romantic ambiance, Santorini is a haven for couples seeking an idyllic retreat.

Prepare to be active on this island as it offers numerous opportunities for movement. From walking the stairs on the caldera to capture the best views, to the breathtaking hike from Fira to Oia (6.6 miles), ATVing around the Island and swimming in the Mediterranean. I definitely got my movement fix in.

Where to Stay

  • Canaves Oia Suites & Spa: Originally built as wine storage caves in the 17th century, Canaves Oia Boutique Hotel was transformed into a refined oasis of tranquility. With its minimalist design, breathtaking views and impeccable service, Canaves Oia quickly became synonymous with luxury living on the island and remains that way today.

  • Canaves Epitome: This was my favorite! Offering a secluded sanctuary in Santorini tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Oia (but close enough to walk), Canaves Epitome boasts minimalist design, private plunge pools and unparalleled views of the sunset. Guests can unwind amidst 1000-year-old olive trees, take a dip in the crystal-clear waters of their private pool, or simply soak in the mesmerizing beauty of the Aegean Sea view. It’s truly special.

  • Canaves ENA: Nestled in the heart of Oia, Canaves ENA (meaning “one”) combines traditional Cycladic architecture with contemporary luxury. Recently opened in May 2024, and featuring just 18 rooms, each suite is tastefully decorated with modern furnishings and offers breathtaking views of the caldera. Due to its location among the caves, each suite is unique and no two are the same. Canaves Ena is the perfect choice for couples looking to immerse themselves in the vibrant energy of Santorini.

  • Andronis Luxury Suites: Also perched on the caldera in Oia, Andronis Luxury Suites provides stunning views of the Aegean Sea and the island's iconic sunsets. Its elegantly appointed suites feature private terraces where guests can enjoy a tranquil morning sunrise or a romantic evening sunset. Each suite is designed with luxurious amenities, combining traditional Greek architecture with modern comforts.

  • Mystique: Mystique is an upscale resort from Marriott’s Luxury Collection carved into the rugged caldera cliffs in the city of Oia. Its 41 stylish rooms have just been renovated and give off a very understated luxurious feel amidst earthy tones and natural materials. A perfect destination for honeymoons and romantic escapes, it feels exclusive due to its northern location on the caldera, yet is only a 5-7 minute walk from the heart of Santorini.

  • For shorter distances between islands like Paros to Mykonos, you can easily charter a boat and it’s a more luxurious enjoyable experience
